Throughout
the 1960s these caricatures by "Luís" appeared in The Militant newspaper, published by the Socialist
Workers Party (SWP) in the United States. Many also
appeared in the SWP's monthly journal, International
Socialist Review, and the magazine International
Viewpoint published by the Fourth International. The
caricatures he drew and the headlines from the articles
they accompany, capture the worldwide political and
social revolt of the era.
For
information about Luís, please see a biographical
sketch
provided to the Holt Labor Library by his wife, Eunice
Seligson, and sons, Eric and Mark
Seligson.
Ruth
Schein
donated the twenty-two original caricatures to the Holt
Labor Library in 2001. Lincoln Cushing contributed his time and talents to digitize the
collection.
